How deep is the pex buried beneath the ground? Does this mean that you cannot "turn/loosen" the soil periodically?
-
Yes! This is the model that I envision on the land I have. Incorporating mammals/insects/environment into the crop production formula. Thank you for sharing.
-
so let me get this straight you helped a millionaire make another Million.

You guys are genius
-
Lol the both of you look like brothers.
-
ive watch several videos from both of these guys ....you have nice looking gardens and ive learned some good ideas ...it is a little discouragin to listen to so many videos purporting that smaller is better and then it seems you have sold out to the wealthy conglomerate ..it is your right to be succesfull and i applaud you ...seems a little hypocritaacal however

Wow. Such an exciting experiment. So glad you've had this opportunity and you are the guys to move this forward. The move did raise some questions to me. I thought a key aspect of your whole philosophy JM was not to grow bigger but to produce higher quality veg. What led you to change your mind and expand quite a bit? I wonder what is happening with your old farm? Can you manage both, have you sold it, did someone take it over for you? Its great that you've been so successful and your global reach and inspiration should not be underestimated. I wonder how feasible this kind of set up is for new growers? Or is that not really a consideration for you? Good luck. I would love to visit some day - I'm planning my Canadian tour - Four seasons farm, green city acres, Sole Food...and maybe some mountains! :)

Hey do you have an one on one coaching program
-
Hella cool, can't wait to see what it looks like after a full season.

Hmmm. That greenhouse and underground soil heating system required a lot of capital before a single vegetable was sold. I wonder how much initial capital was required? I'm guessing at least several hundred thousand dollars. Not too many people I know have that kind of capital laying around to start such an enterprise. Seems like a business model that will require investment from family and friends or outside investors to get off the ground.

This is not feasible for small market gardening and will yet again squeeze out the small market gardener in favor of flashy marketing and big budgets. This will out produce, out market, and run out the local mom and pop farmer. That million dollars in production will have to be sold somewhere. So if there is not a million dollars worth of new customers, you will have to steal the customers from your neighbor.

Bugs are Natures garbage collectors. They eat plants that are not up to scratch in some particular aspect. The same goes for humans. If you are not up to par , you get eaten...see dead doctors don't lie__Dr. Joel Wallach. Proper mineralisation is necessary for farm animals, plants and humans. In 1936 , a senate report to the US Govt stated that the soils were not really fit to supply proper nutrition to the public__so, how goes it in Canada ? It's shit here in Australia. Plants need minerals...rock dust, herbal teas grown on mineral rich soils etc. Bugs don't really eat the healthy plants so much as those that are deficient in something. Healthy plants have coatings of silicon and compounds on their skin that when the bugs bite into it , is toxic. Also, if you look closely at weeds, they will tell you by their presence, what is deficient in the soil, otherwise they wouldn't be growing there...eg fennel growing near railway tracks__soil is compacted , so Nature will try to break it up .A few long tap root type weeds can mine the subsoil to bring up minerals. You may want to look up biodynamics, Rudolph Steiner, Fukuoka, Alex Podolinsky for good soil.

I like the idea of warming the soil and not the green house. Saves a lot of energy. Great job!

Spring arrives in the ground February, by March the solar heat is strong enough on cloudy days. All makes sense.

Sweet sweaters! The more I go down the farming road the more wise looking grandpaish I get!

I am a bit sceptical of the use of more expensive tech and equipment. I am very interested in hearing whether the more advanced systems pay for themselves or not. I guess thats the goal here. Good luck and congrats, you have both been an inspiration for me and my project.

Companion plants are a real thing. Alliums basil and many others discourage bad pests and promote good insects. Also fungus is very important. Those can help tremendously. You guys are awesome, love the videos.
