I am sick of these manipulative liars, who have no compassion for any human being on Earth. I could just about vomit.
You want to see how media can effect the population? Who knows it better than these liars, these vile people who don't even have compassions for a mentally ill kid who was tortured for several days? Not even when it is an even of world history?: http://heavy.com/news/2017/01/man-tied-up-tortured-kidnapped-chicago-facebook-live-video-white-trump-voter-suspects-brittany-herring-full-uncensored/
I have learnt the names of news sites I never heard of before... as I couldn't find the story anywhere else than on conservative news sites or non-mainstream ones. Large ones won't touch it, despite the historicity of torturing someone live on Facebook, despite their obsession with the presidency which this relates to.
Why won't they touch it? Because they don't care about the victim or any human at all, only about what the victim is, and how they can be used to influence people through media.
And that is why we have a generation of liars and weasels, who say people who torture others are just kids, and kids always do stupid things. -
that neutral milk hotel outro nggghHHH <3

Thank you for using the word "cromulent"

I feel the biggest problem here is the media which replaces all the "could be" with "is". Pick femenists or anti-femenists, both of them mostly argue using uncontrolled and exaggerated claims that have nothing to do with science, but are presented as such.
If they were right, games would literally make your brain grow and then you'd feel an unstoppable need to kill all women... THIS is what the majority understands by "science". -
Nice subtle Simpsons reference you snuck in at the end there.
-
Oh that's cool.
-
you start the video off by the fallacy of argumentum ad populum and/or argument from authority. The fact that this cultivation theory has been cited tons and is generally accepted means absolutely nothing in reality. thats a bit disappointing.
-
it's funny how both sides of the feminism vs anti-feminism debate accuse each other of being pseudo-intellectuals engaging in sophistry and racism.
-
Marxist pseudoscience
-
Well, there's no link between video games and sexism because video games aren't inherently sexist. That should be obvious. :|
-
Okay, but going by cultivation theory, the same applies to feminist communities as well. If you consume media that tells you the world is sexist, you will start to believe the world is sexist, arguably more sexist then it actually is. I find it curious nobody ever talks about that.
-
I certainly agree that culture and environment can affect behaviour and/ or beliefs.
I just wonder if say, the setting of a narrative took place in a time and location which was so very unlike our reality. Would cultivation theory still apply when violence occurs a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away?
I've seen those ted talks by both speakers in the past, but Anita's talk seemed to make an emphasis on her victimhood in a disingenuous manner. Considering people have gone through worse abuse, she really seemed to milk her victim status. I'm not trying to say that women who experience sexism should be quiet, but to use hate comments to garner sympathy for a cause is pretty manipulative in my opinion.
I disagree with a lot of what Anita has to say, although her series has made me more aware of certain issues. I'm actually glad that she made her video series, and there is elements of truth in her content. That said, a lot of her actions show that she can be dishonest and unfair at times.
Phrases like "Listen and Believe" and "... Everything is sexist, and you have to point it all out." are quite alarming, especially being uttered by Anita Sarkeesian. You seem like an intelligent person, and I'd like to know what you think about some of Anita's dishonesty and confirmation bias. -
while i dont really line up with your views on gaming and feminism. yea people abused this article in a completely wrong way.

Liana K just made a video citing this study to show cultivation theory doesn't really apply to video games. She seems to be the antithesis feminist gamer to Anita and her videos seems to be along the lines of "I'm a cool feminist and I think video games are pretty great we just need more women in them and we need to stop talking about any problems brought up by other feminists cough cough Anita, because there are none and anyone who thinks there is just doesn't understand video games/sex positive feminism/etc." Not to rag on her, I appreciate a different feminist PoV even if I really disagree with it, I would just like some others opinions on this. Also, she seems cool and nice so no one dogpile or leave hateful things on her videos, okay?

Houston Press linked this video in an article about Anita!
-
Good choice of closing music.
-
The claim of this video is so basic that I don't know how anyone could in good consciousness dispute it
-
So if somebody watches a ton of feminist criticism and takes in the worldview often promoted by third wave feminism, could they believe that women are far more marginalized than they really are? Maybe even come to believe that we live in a Patriarchy?
-
I've never heard of the Jane girl.

6:20 Anita never said they are capable of making us better. She point blank states that video games make you sexist, that the less you think you're affected the more you are, etc. SHE and others like her are the ones equating "media can affect your world view" to "media/games make you sexist" that you are so critical of.
