Greenwoble is the other guy who made a video on this. Can you tell me about watering the bag through the process.

are you juice from sons of anarchy?
-
Next time, please aim the camera lower.

chicken wire over seeds would work i think have to secure it down so vermin cant move but trees grow thew it

where do u put the bag ?
do you water the inside the bag ?
Do you plant in fall expect germination, when ?
did some nuts do better than others ?
What is the soil you used and / or recommend. is this "soil mix" the only one to use ?
what is the advantage of using the bag instead of a pot or the ground ?
Do they need cold temps to germinate ?
what region are you in ? -
So you do not have to crack the black walnut when planting, I just picked up about 300 so I'm getting ready to plant soon.

Acorn trees are Oak Trees, but you knew that.

Very Cool! I just happened to pick up a bunch of shag bark hickory tree nuts and did a search. How did this work out for you? Just curious if you had any success?

Wonderfully creative!

Thanks for this video! I got really fascinated. I have collected about 40 shagbark nuts, 40 black walnuts, and I found 8 horse chestnuts from a historically relevant tree that fell onto a city street over a fence. (I had to make 4 separate city walks to get up to 8, so they better come up. These nuts are called 'conkers'). I tried eating a single hickory nut which I saw fall fresh, and it was delicious, but not worth the effort, and indeed - the hand staining is terrible! I'll de-shell these, throw them into some bags, burlap them up, and see how it goes by spring 2015. Thanks again. I have watched this several times and I don't think I would have bothered without.

hi there...
a question from the netherlands:
do you leave the bag outside during winter?
when do you start giving water?
greets :-)

Good concept but poor video quality..can't hear you due to traffic, can't see what you are doing in the beginning because all we see is your face..show us what you are doing with your hands. Sharpen up the narrative and the video, takes too long, talk too slow becomes boring.

Hey, thanks for watching! No I don’t think it is necessary to hull them, I just did it so the root could get out faster. Also the hull stops other plants and trees from growing and I had more than one type of tree in that bag. One more thing I forgot to mention is that I had to cover my bags with a burlap bag to keep the squirrels from digging up my nuts.

Very interesting Dave. This is the right time of the year also. I was out collecting hickory nuts today to start trees. I have plenty of black walnuts on my property already so this sounds like a cool way to get them started also without a lot of work. Obviously nature does not hull her black walnuts so is it really necessary to go this extra step when starting these? I will not see them mature in my lifetime but my goal is to re-forest most of my 13 acres to benefit wildlife. Thanks again.
