The naivety of the commentator at the end made me sad, people back in the 1950s couldn't not have imagined what's going on today. Wahhabism, Suicide Bombings, Ethnic cleansing.

As shown for over 1400 years, the more Islam you have, the less of everything else you have - until rather rapidly, you have nothing BUT Sharia Islam. You can have a modern, free and rational culture or the nihilistic totalitarian tribal dysfunction of Islam - based on what Chris Hitchens rightly called, the "filth" of the Koran, direct from Mohammad, the pedophile rapist, mass-murdering bandit warlord psychopath. You can't have both a healthy sane state and Islam. Ever...anywhere.

This is one of the most beautiful and educational films of the history and culture of Iraq. Iraqis lived better and the economy of the country was thriving just like in Cuba in the 1950s. It was peaceful and relaxed. Now Iraq lay in ruins by greed and terrible evil people who want to destroy the ancient relics of its past and destroy its people. I want the old Iraq and Cuba back! God bless the people Iraq and the world!

When you see this film it makes you realize what a mess we have made of the Middle East. What post war optimism there was and now there is conflict everywhere brought about largely by greed for oil and the dirty politics that go with it.

"The young will always know that their lives will be better than their fathers. Now, new schools have been built within near proximity. Seeing them in the western clothes shows the teens what a promising future that awaits them."
...and now schools are being bombed by the US troops. You know who's the culprit here. -
This is sad :-(
