As an engineer and devoted researcher, Fernando Funes believes that the knowledge provided by science can be successfully combined with the heritage of tradition to boost revolutionary projects in agriculture. Since 2012 he runs with his family the agro-ecologic project Finca Marta, in the western part of Cuba, where he produces organic vegetables that are highly demanded among private-owned restaurants in Habana. Scientist, farmer and entrepreneur. In 2012, after 20 years dedicated to scientific research and the academic life, he began with his family the sustainable agro-ecological project Finca Marta in Caimito, Artemisa. At present, he combines his academic work as a consultant, lecturer, and teacher with the responsibilities of a farmer and a small business owner in Cuba.
