Bududa district in eastern Uganda is renowned for its steep slopes. The district has 15 sub-counties and of these, only one sub-county, the town council, is in a flat area. Flooding, soil erosion and landslides are recurrent problems. There are land management techniques that small-holder farmers in such vulnerable areas are adopting to minimize the problem of surface runoff.
