Short documentary exploring the differences between the current agricultural model and the newer style of permaculture. Done for a Salford University project. Special thanks to the Northern School of Permaculture in Bury for all of their assistance.

Agriculture is on the move from what i've learned, large scale mono-culture style farmers are opening up to treating the land, as a biological system and by applying practices like no-till with diverse covercrops, are working to build soil, as well as increasing their profits...Learning about the way that dyed in the wool farmers are changing and doing something that i kind of believed in but lacked the knowledge to implement, has REALLY inspired me to attempt their basic practices( borrowing from some basic permaculture principles as well) on my 'humble' allotment.......Not to say it isn't challenging, going against the grain and all that. An old guy got really angry with me the other day when i tried to explain why i don't dig my soil.....Just couldn't compute that it's not in the best interests of the soil to turn it over and break it up, get the air in.....and i guess, i'm a threat to his world...so perhaps, kid gloves and all that...makes it harder when he's so successful at growing stuff too....but i have my you tube k'now how, to back up my back to nature inclinations with hard facts on soil y'know!
