Finally got around to harvesting the ginger from the aquaponic system last week. Not the largest harvest we've had but still not too shabby either. Can that ginger be stored in a bucket of earth in a cool dry place until you need it. (Like sun chokes are stored)

most people don't realize you can harvest and use the the leaves in cooking, so you can have a ginger harvest while the rhizome grows to harvest size. good job!

i am beginning to figure out i have a lot of learning to do. what would you recommend beginners start growing with. i was thinking strawberries or grapes. but i dont know how difficult they will be.

Ginger grows sideways so u need to give it space to grow. thats a seriously good harvest as I can see the plant has no more space to grow more :-)

Now that you have had some time to eat a bit, can you tell a difference in taste or texture between ginger grown in soil and the ginger grown in the aquaponics?

Hi Rob, how many inches up the side did you drill the hole for your dutch bucket? Think sweet potato would do well in your aquaponics dutch bucket? they didn't seem too happy in the regular IBC grow bed.

how many months since u planted this until harvest? in the philippines farmers used to harvest it after a year of planting..can't believe ginger can be grown in aquaponics.. i will definitely try his

if you can get ahold of it lemongrass grows crazy in an aquaponic barrel.
