GRAVEL-HATERS please READ the INFORMATION!! ;) We set up a new tank for the axolotls. It's a 240 l tank, so more than enough space for my two axolotls. :) I wanted to keep as many snails as possible, so I first collected them out of the old setup. They eat the axolotl faeces and keep the tank clean. If you want to use gravel, be careful! The gravel should not be larger than 3mm and should not have any sharp edges! There is some special "Axolotl gravel" you can use, it is completely rounded. Axolotls may swallow the gravel, if the gravel has sharp edges it can seriously hurt the animal's inner organs, what can lead to its death! Axolotls need the opportunity to hide. Clay tubes are a perfect 'den'. Plants will keep the oxygen in the water on a high level.
