Class 11 Biology – Biological Classification Since the dawn of civilisation, there have been many attempts to classify living organisms. The earliest scientific methods to classify organisms were that plants were classified as shrubs, trees, and herbs and animals were classified as red-blooded and non-red-blooded. But this classification was not enough. Then came a more detailed classification of Plantae and Animalia kingdom. Is this the perfect way of classification? How would we classify unicellular and multicellular organisms? There were a lot of organisms which didn’t fall into either category. So came the need of other classification method which we’ll discuss here. We’ll learn 1. Kingdom Monera. 2. Kingdom Protista and Kingdom Fungi. 3. Kingdom Plantae and Kingdom Animalia. 4. Lichens, Viruses and Viroid.
