This is the famous "NENDRAN" variety of raw Banana's that is used for manufacturing of crisp deep fried "Banana Chips".The Changanassery variety of Nendran banana is considered the best for manufacturing banana chips and same imported from the state of Tamil Nadu by trucks.This raw banana immediately turns golden yellow when deep fried. Banana chips production is a small scale industry in Kerala and approximately 100 Kg of raw Nendran bananas are required to produce approximately 32 Kg of banana chips,the most famous edible snack export of Kerala.No wonder these many trucks queue up daily on Basin road.
