vue - Banana Farming in Nepal: A Case of Tika Ram Chaudhary
When it became difficult to survive, 29-year old Tika Ram Chaudhary of Kailali Gadariya Village Development Committee, 3 left for Punjab, India in search of work in 2002. For 5 years he worked hard and earned Indian Rupees (IC) 1,500 per month. When it started becoming difficult to survive on such small income he returned to Nepal in 2007, determined to do something. He had Nepali Rupees (NRs.) 20,000 with him and borrowed another NRs. 20,000. With NRs. 40,000 he started banana farming on 0.135 hectare of leasehold (land). This became profitable for him. When he saw that banana farming gave him a good income Tika Ram continued with the activity. He now cultivates banana on 2.70 hectares of leasehold (land) in his village. Through banana farming he now has an annual income of NRs. 667,500 to NRs. 801,000

Banana farming of Tika Ram Chaudary Kalalalli Gadariya village of Nepal is a commendable job which really motivates people and also small farmers who strive hard to earn reasonably well.it needs courage to try out something new , that too when capacity to invest is a challenge.
