Have you ever tried cooking Basmati rice the Persian way?
-
OMG!
You have to soak rice for 3 hours before cooking. -
The trick is to totally wash the rice BEFORE you cook it! I use my handy-dandy Sanyo rice cooker but it is rinsing all the starch off the rice that makes the real difference.

no need of extra virgin greek olive oil?
-
Hi Aki, is it ok to use dried rosemary if I don't have any fresh leaves?

Where I come from we make basmati with vegetable oil or any oil with no flavor and add salt, cinnamon sticks, cardamom ,, or just salt and oil 😁

+AkisKitchen hi i live in izmir(Smyrna)/Turkey .but my mother side emigrated from peloponnesos (?)/southern greece.usually greek and Turkish recipes are same , but we do have some recipes that are from greece.I couldnt find its name in greek, but basically it is a rice with meat.there is a weird device (not sure if it's ) and when you add water to it while the meal is cooking.it absorbs water and then it releases the water as if it is boiling.could you Do that recipe please. ireally wanna know its name...:) love your videos

Basmati rice water ratio is 1 cup rice to 1.5 cups of water.
-
i put it in a rice cooker with oil and salt, done. also quite easy :p
-
Personally i'd use slightly less water about 1:1.5 but other than that this is the only way to cook rice :D
All those people who drain their rice after adding way too much water need to take note -
I come from Armenia and I do it in a different way: you wash the rice and put it in a pan with water and salt. then you cook it on high heat until the rice is nearly ready. This should take about 10 minutes. then you remove the water and you add to the rice a little bit of oil. now you can add whatever taste you like. then you let it cook until it is finished. The rice gets fluffy and delicious.

This is perfect, thanks Akis!💛
