If using Open Mesh Floors, would you recommend removing the board in winter for extra ventilation? Do you insulate at all? I was thinking about making little wooden shims to go under the crown board so that it's tilted a little so any moisture runs to the back rather than drips down onto the bees, not sure if that will work or not! Might cause an issue if I need to feed them.

What are your thoughts on using Queen Excluders? Do you bother with them or just let the bees do their thing?

ive got 12 frames brood and its full but some hives i checker board them later so i give them 8 frames and add later and it seems to work and use foundation less frames in between brood or in the super between the capped honey seems to work well the draw comb quick

i am a new beekeeper and was wondering is it easier to have 9 frames instead of ten because ,less chance of squishing bees between frames. and do you have to use the spacers or can make marks where each frame would set thanks

Mr. Tim, what's your opinion on using a queen excluder? I'm hearing they are ideal, and I'm hearing they cut down on honey production in the long run.

Tim, I have loaded my hives today, I noticed Bee's carrying off Bee's. is this normal? also the two hives I have at the house the Queen's were being fed by their attendants so I put them out of their cages. partly because the corks were damaged and pushed into the cage. also when should I change from the small entrance to the large entrance?

Thanks, this is good stuff. My grandpa had orange groves and we always had bee hives but I am just now getting interested in starting some hives. Now I'm in Arizona...so it ain't an orange grove but there are a lotta bees and we are hitting Spring!

Hi Tim,I have a question I wonder if you can help me with. I started a hive from a nuc late in the summer and have a brood with a nuc on top full of honey going into the winter. I did this in hoping that the hive would winter ok. There of course was no queen excluder. Do you think the queen will start laying in the super and if so how would I go about getting the configuration back to 2 brood boxes as what would be normal. I live in London Ontario, Canada. Thanks Tim!

I haven't come across this in any of your videos. What do think about screened bottom boards? When should they be used ? I live in Houston tx it's hot and humid will my bees be ok in a solid bottom board. I keep reading about moisture in the hive , how big an issue is this . And what is bearding bees
