vue - Beet and Carrot Harvest & Planting a Few Melons
It's time to pull up the beets and carrots, and see how well things turned out. What I had here was Chioggia Beets, Danvers Carrots, and Red Atomic Carrots. Despite the fact that I didn't do a good job of thinning them out, I think everything turned out pretty good. After getting things cleaned up, I planted some melons. Charentais, a French melon smaller than a cantelope. And I planted some Jubilee watermelons from seed that I saved last year. My new facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mhp.gardener

OOOhhhh NO you didn't.... you did NOT just eat fresh, natural watermelon straight from your garden in front of us all....
love your uploads... Thank you for your time and dedication. -
I have enought room for water melons and where can I get the melon seeds you spoke of? I would love some small melons.

If you are one that does not particularly like to eat beets - juice them. I don't like them but juice them and - yeah. I like.

does the depth of your raised bed have any effect on the length of the carrot?

I ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS--THANK YOU

check your tops before you pull em, if you have more grow time take the big ones let the small ones grow lol. Some need a bit more time 😉

Excellent~
I need to construct a greenhouse or make polytunnels for fall & winter months. -
Bobby, I grew the chiogga beets for the first time this yr. I also have the usual Detroit dark Reds and Early Wonder. My tops are very small compared to yours but the beats get rather large. I mention this only because root crops in general are funny about top growth vs bottom growth. I had potatoes this yr with massive tops but nearly nothing underneath.

Did you know that beets and carrots both are very high in antioxidants great for juicing, used in cancer diets like Gersons Therapy, just happened to have been studying cancer diets, anyway...
