vue - Coconut farming in the Philippines
Typhoon Haiyan damaged or destroyed millions of coconut trees, wiping out a vital source of income for farmers. Oxfam is now working with local farmer groups to remove the trees before they rot and saw the trunks into lumber to help rebuild houses.

So sad when I heard about this. I still wonder if they replanted new coconut trees? I can't find any information when I google.

I am very happy seeing sustainable help coming from other countries and how my fellow Filipinos maintained that smile in midst of what they've gone through! :) I remember something that could help them in case they wanted to go farming again. My dad is using this kind of organic based fertilizer, he said it is environment friendly because its made out of seaweeds (and that is what we want to get rid of Haiyan-like devastation again) and helps plants grew up faster, healthier. He gets his supply from June Lalog (I'm not sure if June is real name or nickname) who also offered free agricultural advise. I hope this info will help somebody in the future! - Pinoy Travel Marketing
