The combination of the compost vermiculite and peat moss is a really good combination and can also be amended with other nutrients as well.

1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 compost and 1/3 peat moss I add different things like worm castings and azomite(rock minerals, and fertilize often.

I am from Hamilton Ontario, it is good video. I am also growing in my back yard, 8 plants of cucumber and 8 for tomato. but I was bit late, and started in early June 2014. Now few tomato and dozen of small cukes appear on the plants. Tomato are 3 inches the largest and cukes are now small 3 Inches only growing bigger every day. How long it will take to be of 9 to10 inches size of cucumber.

Yeah carlota its a good recipe with many people adding to it with alfafa powder or seaweed etc, vermiculite can be replaced by rice husks or other similar things

I was glad to get the recipe for growing medium: equal parts of compost, peat moss and vermiculite. He described he used the square foot system, look it up. He set up to give tips, not a step-by-step detailed how-to. It's a 59 second video, I think it was adequate.

What should have happened: Gonna teach you about growing cucumbers. These are the seeds, this is the soil you should plant them in. Plant at [this] time. This is my trellis technique. Care for them this way. Here is a feeding/watering schedule. After [this] amount of time, they will be ready to harvest. Harvest when they look like this. What actually happened: These are my cucumbers. I have some squash here too. This is what they are growing in. Hope you learned a lot. *TEACHING FAIL*
