A pair of young, budding Saint Lucian filmmakers has won the 2nd Caribbean Science and Agriculture Film and Video Competition – creating a bit of history in the process. It is the first time Saint Lucia has won the competition, which seeks to find creative ways of engaging youth in discussion on agriculture. Kareem Larcher and Jelani Paul received high praise for their riveting short film, during Caribbean Week in Agriculture 2014, which was held in Suriname from October 6 to 10, 2014. Officials of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) say the competition is realizing its goal of changing the mindset of young people and helping them explore the opportunities that exist in farming and the rural centre.
