vue - Does Sugarcane Grow Faster On Dirt Or Sand? [Minecraft Myth Busting 25]

1. Have you ever tested whether or not pumpkins/melons grow faster on hydrated soil?
2. +xisumavoid I've done some experimentation where I compared (a) sugarcane growing next to a row of water source blocks at the same level as the dirt against (b) the sugarcane growing next to a wall of falling water. (b) seems to be slightly faster. The hypothesis was that if the second level of cane were next to water, then perhaps it would grow faster. But based on what you're saying, the code doesn't even check to see where the water is. Is that correct? I find that I can't plant cane unless there's water, but I can then fill in the water source block, and the cane doesn't break. Will it still grow?
