vue - EasyCarbo vs Seachem Flourish Excel
Easy Life EasyCarbo Easy Life EasyCarbo is a liquid source of organically available carbon. It replaces the need to use gaseous CO2 in a small -- medium planted aquarium of up to around 200L. It comes in a concentrated form and can dose up to 25000L per 500ml bottle if used at the recommended dose of 1ml per 50L or up to 12500L if used at the higher dose of 2ml per 50L. It is relatively cheap compared to other similar products of this nature at around £10 (~$20) per 500ml bottle. The lid features a measuring cap that goes down to 2.5ml, so to accurately dose an aquarium less than 125 liters, a syringe may be required. Does it work? I have performed a trial on this product in my planted 125L aquarium, dosing at the higher recommended dose everyday for three weeks. Before the trial started I had stopped using my usual daily dose of Seachem Flourish Excel for over a month, because of this, my plants were not looking their best and black beard algae had started to emerge. After three weeks I can see a definite increase in the colouration of my plants, they appear greener and healthier and they have all also dramatically sprouted new leaflets. The black beard algae has started to fade away and die, turning pink at first, then rapidly melting away. In areas with larger amounts of black beard algae I spot treated using a syringe directly onto the algae, after which it died away after two days. The fish and my filter bacteria seem unaffected by the product. Easy Life EasyCarbo vs Seachem Flourish Excel Seachem Flourish Excel is a quality product I have used for many years with great success and I know for a fact that it works spectacularly. Easy Life EasyCarbo is basically like a supermarket own brand version of Seachem Flourish Excel. EasyCarbo smells just like Seachem Flourish Excel, but not a strongly, suggesting that it is the same chemical, but just not as strong or well manufactured. EasyCarbo does basically the same thing as Seachem Flourish Excel but not quite as well, the plants are greener and growing fast, but not as green and as fast as when using Seachem Flourish Excel. The black beard algae is dieing away, but not as quickly and completely as when I use Seachem Flourish Excel. So is it better than Seachem Flourish Excel? No, but it's a close second place. Would I use it again? To be honest, Easy Life EasyCarbo is a great product and does work well. It seems effective at helping to grow plants and replaces gaseous CO2. It is an especially tempting product, because one 500ml bottle will last a 125L aquarium, dosing the higher dose of 2ml per 50L or 5ml per day, over three months. It is also pretty cheap, around two thirds the price of Seachem Flourish Excel, which is a great deal and caters for the aquarist on a budget. I feel that Easy Life EasyCarbo is absolutely, without doubt, worth trying if you are looking for that something extra to boost your aquarium plants because it will make them grow better; however, personally I enjoy the strength and quality of Seachem Flourish Excel, but not the price. Great video very informative. Im just getting back into fish keeping again and have set up a light/moderate planted tank with mainly amazon swords and java fern. I am looking into aadding fertilizer and carbon, currently have root tabs in the gravel but nothing else. Will the use of carbon help reduce the brown alge on the leaves of my swords.

I've got CO2 injection, 30ppm and I dose ferts weekly and daily and still got a massive outbreak of BBA, I made the mistake of dosing in Phosphate! Been dosing Seachem excel for the last week and bought 6 Siamese Algae Eaters (True) This product really helped, turned it a red colour and even my pleco is eating it up think its finally under control. Great Vid! subbed also.
