vue - Eric X. Li: A tale of two political systems
It's a standard assumption in the West: As a society progresses, it eventually becomes a capitalist, multi-party democracy. Right? Eric X. Li, a Chinese investor and political scientist, begs to differ. In this provocative, boundary-pushing talk, he asks his audience to consider that there's more than one way to run a succesful modern nation. I believe there are differences between Single party Elite vs multi party Elite but still Elites. Probably what the countries need to make Elites to be accountable to street people and make participation possible.
-
prefer democracy and participation along with God's moral

I've been 30 countries poor or rich.I've been using VPN for 10 years, I read all west mainstream media, I think the west people(including tawiwan,hk) is more brainwashed, Trump's win such blackswan things prove it..the difference is that chinese people are so afraid they may be brainwashed by media so we keep go outside see both sides news..but the west youth never realise media is so brainwashed, chinese know more the west than the west youth know china.

Eric made this speech in 2013, at the end of 2016, in which year of political black swans, we now can find what he got right in this speech

3:02 - 3:19 Basically sums up the comment section.
Everyone thinks the other side is 'brainwashed' by propaganda, without even questioning themselves and looking at the bigger picture.
This talk was excellent but people are so blinded by their rage and rejection of China that they don't even listen to Eric's perceptive and points. -
When I look at the comment section,I realize most people are stupid fuckers

after I went to western countries then I realized so many people there are brainwashed. Now I've been traveling over 60 countries and I can safely say most of us Chinese have independent thinking, the other foreigners most of them are all brainwashed more or less.

nice analysis.
Quote from the source "The key assumption is that China's political system is better because China has grown to the be the second largest economy in the world. Of course he uses the aggregate GDP measure. However, China lags behind in per-capita incomes when it is compared with its own democratic neighbors, leave alone Europe and the US. " -
Although Chinese history under Mao was horrible for millions it is not arguable that it was necessary for pushing China into the modern era and making it one of the most powerful countries. Currently China is westernizing and innovating. With brand new major subway systems and country wide transit rapidly being built while in America it is impossible to build a subway system from scratch in a major city because there are too many voices in the way

China is more capitalist than the west nowadays

Isn't Youtube Banned in China?

It has been three years since Li's Ted speech. How's China now? Is the one party ruled nation better than ever? It supposes to since Li was so sure that CCP's refusal of temptation of Democracy has brought the world another new path of development. Well, with bitter taste in mouth, Li is most likely having most of his assets escaped from China by now.

I came here after seeing Eric Li on John Pilger's documentary "The Coming War on China."
The talk here makes even more sense after the recent round of elections in the US. American "democracy" gives you the illusion of choice between two parties, but really the policies between GOP and DNC, don't differ all that much "suppression of the poor", "enrichment of the 1%". As Li said in the documentary, "In China, you can't change political parties, but you can change policies. In the US, you can change parties but you can't change policies." -
Facts speak louder than words.Ten years later let's see whether China will become the No.1 economy in the word.
