I live near the marsh costal area. after monsoon the land here is wet and watery till december. is it good place for eucalyptus to survive in such land?

Unfortunately introducing all the alien species, why not local species of plants. Eucalyptus is a curse for all those areas. I am from Pakistan and i know how much Eucalyptus plantation has caused damage to soil and underground water and all the native species of plants and animals.

Eucalyptus is a dangerous tree it will lead to lowering of underwater levels and there by turning fertile fields into deserts - one or ytwo trees are ok never to be planted as a crop unless you its some marshy place that too only i crop for 5 years - use jcb to uproot pluch with the root and kill all the baby plants

eucalyptus is not grown on fertile lands its a tree that sucks out all ground water and nutrients ,its also notorious in attracting termites, the wood has low value mostly used for making paper, know this when Tibetans where given land in Karnataka the government gave marsh or water logged waste land, the grateful Tibetans did not complain they just accepted and grew eucalyptus tree all over than the water naturally drained in a few years, I would recommend growing teak but one can not expect good returns till 30years teak is an investment for your children or grand children you can not enjoy the fruit of your labor teak is only valuable after proper development of heart wood which generally starts after 10/15 years. I am not an expert nor discouraging any one I am just letting unsuspecting guys know what the reality is, you don't need to trust me you will get more info at your nearest agricultural departments.

i dont know if its really profitable or not, what i do know, is that the smell and taste of fresh eucalyptus leaves are very good.. im going to buy a small plant soon.. planning on growing it myself for atleast 20 years, and then find some place to plant it.. but yeah.. its like a kinda mint, just much better..
