vue - Evergreen Jamuns
Bahdoli near Palghar is home to 1000 - 1200 jamun trees that bear fruits that are rarely found in markets of Mumbai. Generally a jamun weighs around 10 - 12gms each but these jamuns weigh almost 23gms and are the tastiest jamuns one can come across. These jamuns are not found in the city since it becomes very difficult for the jamun farmers to take care of the logistics and transport this luscious fruit to the markets in Mumbai. The yearly village economy depends on these jamuns and that really make the villagers proud. This village was awarded by the agricultural university in Dapoli and since 2003 this village is fondly known as 'Jambhoolgav' which means a jamun village.

There is another way to look at the situation! Let the cities starve and depopulate and the farmer grow what the family needs and go back to the old life........

Sir, I have a jamun tree which is 2 year old and about 3 feet tall . Was very healthy but I transplanted it 20 feet away ..I must have killed some roots ..50% of its leaves have died and looks like the whole tree may just die...Can you give me some advice what to do ...urgently please.

wow. I love this fruit . You Lucky people ! It seems like a monkey is better suited to collect these ..it is so time consuming to pluck. How long does it take for a Jamun seedling to become fruit bearing tree ?
