vue - French Wheat Production Down 22%, USA Barley and Oat Yields Down | Mini Ice Age 2015-2035 (195)
French Government media reporting a 10% decline in French wheat production, but independent analysts put the loss at 22% due to mold, plant viruses and blight on crops remaining that will be sub-standard animal feed. In the USA wheat yield dropped form 48 bushels per acre to 45 bushels and Barley yields dropped 35% and Oats 17%. It's still real chilly at nights here, and our expected high temps today are 78'F.... about 10 plus degrees cooler than normal.. luckily, our fruit production has not declined .... yet!!
Another great report!!... Thank~you for these! -
I wonder what the true comparison of wheat harvest would be if they hadn't GMO'd the current wheat to be better able to handle weather extremes.

Lots of well-researched content as always, David. There are a few variables here though and I'm not sure if they make things better or worse versus past crises. Firstly, crop strains. We grow wheat that has been bred for exceptionally high yields and that, in part, explains the historically low prices. Whether these strains are more resistant to damp-cold conditions or optimised for AGW I have no idea. Secondly, percentage that is consumed. Apparently (I'm not sure of the figures because it's partly urban myth) only 20% of crops make it to the table due to losses in the fields, transport, storage and waste. That's a lot to play with. Thirdly, unused capacity. Here in Europe we have huge extra farming capacity that farmers get paid to keep fallow and that could be bought into production. The U.K. used to be nearly self sufficient in staples. So we will have to get used to an old fashioned diet. I blame celebrity chefs!Fourthly, Population. This is a big Unknown dynamic and can be open to wild speculation. The worlds population is 10 times what it was at the Maunder Minimum. We have no idea what that will do if food were short - but probably will not be pretty if what you predict actually happens. In the G10/G20, rather than food, we have enormous stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction...it's an unfair world.

i just checked, wheat prises low due to bumper crops.??

Hey Adapt, have you seen the articles about the magnetic pole shift occurring now due to climate change?
It seems to be caused by that pesky shifting of mass when polar ice melts. ;-)

Hello David , did you notice that the northeren hemisfere polar vortex already formed ! You can obviously notice it on gfs weather chart as "green" 500mb temperature around Greenland and north pole . It is very early , it should start at the end of summer , not midst . Few of meteorologists noticed this . I would appriciate if you could check it out . thx .

I watched a documentary a few year ago on the BBC, im in the UK btw, anyway, it explained how carbon dioxide stopped heat from escaping the earths climate by a hands on model. it consisted of 2 cylinders 1 filled with normal air the 2nd with CO2 and a candle. with infra-red cameras they showed a candle flame through each pressurised cylinders ends, the normal air IR looked hot on camera the CO2 looked blue, they explained this created global warming. my head was battered i thought if thats the case how does the heat get in, in the first place. any help appreciated thanks.

Thanks for the Video David! Since John Kerry stated that Air Conditioning is a dangerous as ISIS terror there is a petition going around to take out all air conditioning in the State department buildings and vehicles. and all properties real and movable. https://www.change.org/p/remove-air-conditioning-from-all-us-state-department-property?recruiter=567127406&utm_source=petitions_share&utm_medium=copylink let them lead by example.

If we are actually looking at a MAJOR global cooling event, what would be the main industries to invest in terms of stocks?
Anyone care to comment? -
scary movie!!!Soon the time for sleeping will be over!!

Correct. The Maunder Minimum was simply the coldest 70 years in the middle of centuries of climatic calamities. It began way back in the 14th century with flooding that destroyed agriculture long before it even started to get cooler.
