Great video! I have a question about sunlight though. My raise bed/planter (60' wide) runs east to west in front of my backyard fence. I've noticed that the sun is basically on the other side of the fence and my raise bed is in the shadow all day. No direct sunlight. Will i be able to grown brocolli or cauliflower without direct sunlight? I'm in zone 9b/10 in northern california. Thanks!

My broccoli plants are about a month old. They're growing great, but a couple of my plants are getting a brownish rust color on the leaves. Do you have any idea what could be causing this, and is it contagious ? -
I was wondering if you could make spinach artichoke dip with broccoli... Like "broccoli artichoke dip". I've never tried broccoli leaves before, but it just seems like it would be good to me.

Jeff, do you run any hydroponics during the heat of summer? I'm in NC
and I gave it a whirl a couple of years ago. I found that it was pretty
difficult fighting the rain and the crazy heat; everything looked and
grew great, but it did not taste very good. I haven't tried it since.
If I had a greenhouse and had more of a controlled environment, I
wouldn't mind trying it again. What are your thoughts on outdoor
hydroponics based on what you've experienced? Thank you for the videos, sir! -
I enjoy your videos and the superb information that you had shared with us all. Wife and I trans planted last spring Broccoli ,cauliflower,cabbage and lettuce six starters each , and four ground hogs found their way to the Smorgsbord and Buffet. Wife was not happy. electric fence going up in the spring. ..................................zone 6a in Pa. ...............Ken

Nice Brocs! For the past couple years I just can not keep mine cool enough, they bolt every year, Either that or wild turkeys and ground hogs get them!

The leaves on your broccoli look so clean and undamaged by pests. Have you been treating your plants? I plan to start my cole crops under a hoop house in the spring to protect them from the cabbage loopers.

My though is the plants are to close and the bigger head broccoli is stealing all the soil nutrients. I often make the same mistake and plant to close. I pull out the smallest plant so the bigger plant will do better.

Maybe your hydroponic ones have slightly limp leaves because they are getting hot air from your central air units. Merry Christmas 2015 and Happy New Year 2016!
