vue - Growing button mushrooms
I'm giving one of those common commercial mushroom kits a test run to see if it works. I'll have to post an update because although it does work, at the moment I've paid $5 per mushroom! (Don't worry, I am confident there will be many more mushies to come.) Update: 19 October. The watering instructions with the kit are nonsense. You really need to give them quite a bit of water to produce mushies.

I've spend a long time researching into how to grow mushrooms then we discovered a fantastic resource at gregs mushroom grower (google it if you're interested)

Hey. I plan to start some mushrooms at home. I bought some from the supermarket and there is fluffy stuff on the stems. I figured this may give me an advantage in growing on my own since i think it is mycelium. Is it ok to use the fluffy stems as well as the spores to start my own shrooms?

Are they organic?

Can you save a scoop of the mycelium substrate tor another try using your own dirt/compost?
-

I'd be happy with some mushrooms in 2 weeks! My wife just ordered a mushroom kit to help us get started growing mushrooms in the garden. Hopefully, we'll have as much success as you.

I have tried to grow mushrooms a few times and have since decided to leave the mushroom growing to the mushroom farmers.... But I have a guy just down the road who does a nice job and at a good price. Good luck with yours.
