hello from your neighbor in San Diego. How do I make sure the compost, manure, and fertilizers don't contaminate the plants and make me sick?
-
I'm so glad I found you, you're the only one that I've found that explains everything from start to finish and includes fertilizer, again thanks
-
Great video! which fertilizer are you using?

I tried growing cabbage this fall, unfortunately it was destroyed by root maggots
I'm going to try again, using a growing net -
Hi CG I really appreciate the fact that you take the time to respond to me. Thank you. You take the not so mature leaves and after washing them you cut them thinly cook for about ten minutes and then add the rice. Pretty much the same way you'd cook spinach or beans.

Hi in my neck of the woods we use the leaves to cook in rice : cabbage and rice. Informative as usual. We also have problems with slugs and the Giant African snail. The hobbyist can also search the underside of the leaves for the cabbage butterfly eggs and destroy them before they metamorphose.

I am doing better this year with my collards and broccoli since I have began using the netting. Strange though, sometimes the butterfly DOES manage to get through---I think it's accidental, but then she cannot get back out!! I hate to actually kill them so I generally lift the netting so she can get out. but yes, the netting does work pretty well.

The net idea is a perfect tip. Thanks.
