Indispensable in Asian, Chinese and Mexican cooking, coriander (Coriandrum sativum) is a short-lived, very aromatic herb. Unfortunately the biggest problem when growing is its tendency to bolt. But this variety, called "Santos", is much more bolt resistant than many other types. Seeds should be sown 'a little and often' outdoors from mid-spring to late summer for a continuous harvest. In milder areas it can also be over-wintered in a tunnel or greenhouse. It must be grown in full sun, and should always be well watered. The leaves can be harvested at any stage under a cut-and-come-again system. A short-lived annual perfect for growing in pots.
