vue - Growing Ginger In Containers
Ginger is one of the easiest spices to grow inside or outside, directly in the ground or in containers. Ginger scent can be invigorating. The delicate, spicy, floral scent tends to lift a person's spirit up. You can grow ginger in a small pot and put it on your work table, in a large container place below the stairs, or right before you enter your front door. The lovely ginger scent will greet you as you come in the door from work. The great thing about ginger is that they like partial shade or filter light, which makes them super easy to grow indoors. Ginger is so versatile. Not only can you enjoy the beautiful scent of ginger, but ginger leaves can also be made into a tea. A cup of warm ginger tea made with fresh or dried ginger leaves can help alleviate an upset stomach. Once winter is over, you can take your ginger plant outside and let it continue to grow until harvest time. Thank you for watching hope it helped in some way. Please help me to publish this video! Is it normal for the original ginger you've planted to eventually get soft and seems rotting? Will the new plants be fine and continue to grow? Thanks.

I'm intending to plant some ginger roots but I will plant them like potatoes or bamboo in a box. The box has hinged sides so I can examine the roots without disturbing the plant; I'll just reach in and harvest pieces as I need them and let the rest continue growing undisturbed. This way I can save the time it takes to let the plant reestablish itself in the soil. Besides, the way bamboo and potatoes grow, if you plant in the open earth the roots can travel a mile and you'll never really know where your harvest is to be found. To prevent the soil from harboring bad microbes & microorganisms I have used chopped up aloe vera plants in the compost. It really does a great job of normalizing the soil for freedom from anthracnose and other such nasties as e. coli & such.

This harvest video is Oct. 24, when did you first plant it in that pot?

If your pot sits on the ground, you can put a few boards or bricks under it, anythingto raise it off the ground a few inches, and in my experience it has kept the antsfrom infesting my plants on my patio....sometimes they'll get really bad and kill the plant.

Thanks for the video. I'm looking forward to growing some ginger.

Does it attract bees? That would be an issue for me. Otherwise, I'd love to do that. also, I heard you can eat the leaves, yes? Or at least make tea out of them?

Do you live in Texas? Was this grown outside or inside? Any approximation on how long it took to grow?

Great yield. Gotta leave mine in another year I guess, since it didn't do that good at all last summer.
