Hi there my bits of oyster mushroom colonised all the cardboard and spilt out of the container, little bits have started to pin into mushroom outside the container. I have removed it from the sterelize bag so that it can get more oxygen to grow. May post a pic later if I can
-
wait till the mycelium have taken over all the cardboard
-
wait till all that truns white then do the same thing but larger
-
In this video the oyster mushroom mycelium is spreading over the cardboard:)
Video here: - (http://buff.ly/1lXghnC) -
try scraping that off into a solution of 10 percent peroxide and 90 percent water, let it soak for 1 hr and change the solution and then you are ready to use, or you can do more solution changes to kill off bacteria. It shouldn't be too hard to get that to run on some rye, I wouldn't try coffee grounds unless you can sterilize everything very well. Coffee grounds require pressure cooking, because it's a high energy source of food which can contaminate easily so does rye but the PH in coffee grounds make it easier for contaminants to live.

and what do we do when we have the Mycelium?
put it in sawdust/coffee grounds. Know the garage is not warm enough, don't they some light?
Kinda going to do a combination of techniques w/Shaggy Mane & know i need to keep a journal & not the time of year outdoors.
There is not one video though that i can find (think i gave all my mushroom books to the library accidentally ) THAT TELLS YOU THE WHOLE PROCESS><><><><>.
Damn cleaning and mood swings~ -
Its definitely a learning curve.
-
Agreed:) I found that out the hard way if you watch my last videos on this. Thanks bro!!
-
I did it really crude:( I just boiled water and poured it into the bag I had the coffee in. I would back it in the oven if I did it again:) Keep us updated Jason!

Hey, good video. I have three colonies started, if that is what they could be called. Each started on different dates. And I used three different methods. One is wildly running. I used pieces from a pound of oyster mushrooms that I bought. I pulled from my one batch and made three new containers. One is with coffee, the other two I just created larger batches to get the mycelium. Do you sterilize your coffee in the oven, in a pot or pressure? Thanks again?

No, it's not Cobweb Mold.
-
wuld that technike actualy work with Botton mushrooms and others? like growing the roots in cardbord etc?
-
Let me know how it goes:)
-
what about useing the cardbord like spawn mixing the cardbord with a substriat cover for 10 days and see what happens im going to do this and i will get back to you if you like
-
@OldSnakeGOTP No sir, it was inoculated with oyster mushroom spores:)
-
haha is that cobweb mold
-
@Kenny Hempson Well, I was not very successful in doing it but I can think of two ways. One would be to put handfuls of sterilized coffee grounds in with this mycelium. The other way would be to introduce these cardboard pieces directly into sterilized coffee grounds.
-
How do you introduce it to coffe?
-
@nashrull hay I'm not really sure, since I never was able to do it:( If you watch in my other videos the mycelium ended up getting contaminated:( I think under ideal growing conditions you can start producing within three or four months.

how long it takes to grow an oyster mushroom?
