Seems like a smart and devoted passionate guy, but I have yet to see (missed it?) him address the effects of processed foods w toxic pesticides and gmo's vs local ethically and sustainably grown produce (and animal products). I get my produce and some animal products locally and have studied newer published information regarding the intricacies and details regarding cholesterol. Big Ag, Big Meat, Big Dairy, etc... are ruining the food that is purchased in supermarket. I agree plant based eating with less animal protein is good but there is information about healthy fats and raw A2 milk etc that have proven benefits. I make my own raw milk kefir from cows with predominantly A2 cows and that has wonderful benefits including probiotic to help digestion and absorption of nutrients. Does he think commercial milk, for example, is the same as fresh raw milk from A2 cows? It is two different things and that is just an example. My honey is from a local beekeeper, and I could go on and on.... but I do agree more plants should be in the regular diet than one would think by looking at the standard American diet (SAD).

anyone know how a diet containing meat sat with our ancestors? perhaps it's factory farming that's the problem? or did we just eat a lot less meat back then?

Dr. Greger the way you conduct yourself is incredibly inspirational. The amount of work that goes into your videos, website, and now your book does not go unnoticed! All of this is going to charity too?!!! You've radically changed my life for the better and I know I'm not the only one! I feel incredibly lucky to have discovered you and I'll do my part to spread the word. Thank you so much!!! <3

They told me I'm pre-diabetic and I don't want to become diabetic and I need to lose another 70lbs I've lost 74lbs since having my daughter. A doctor I saw while pregnant told me to lose weight and told me to do more plant base.

This is totally brilliant. I wish this would be required viewing for all school-age children. I'm asking my family to watch this with me for Christmas this year instead of getting a gift. ;)

Hello from Ireland and thank you so much Dr Greger, your videos have changed my life, and that of my family's. Overnight my brother and I changed our diets from having eggs, meat, milk and cheese on a daily basis to a completely plant based diet. We are now vegans since March 2016, are so much healthier, happier, and have so much more energy than before. We have since convinced our mother to switch to a plant-based diet, and are spreading the message (and directing to your videos) to all willing to listen. I have read your book and still watch a lot of your videos to educate myself on the most recent findings. Keep up the brilliant work and thank you so much again!

Why doesn't Dr Greger do a new video on the 2015 dietary guidelines? Yes, he recognises they're ambiguous, but he could dispel the misinformation the high fat meathead doctors, who keep bleating on about how cholesterol is no longer a nutrient of concern.
I've gone to the actual guidelines
https://health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2015-scientific-report/pdfs/scientific-report-of-the-2015-dietary-guidelines-advisory-committee.pdf
Here we go: (Pg.244)
'Randomized dietary intervention studies have demonstrated that healthy dietary patterns exert clinically meaningful impact on cardiovascular risk factors, including blood lipids and blood pressure. Additionally, research that includes specific nutrients in their description of dietary patterns indicate that patterns that are LOWER IN SATURATED FAT, CHOLESTEROL, and sodium and richer in fiber, potassium, and unsaturated fats are beneficial for reducing cardiovascular disease risk . DGAC Grade: Strong'
As a bonus, on page 386:
'Baroni et al. examined vegan, vegetarian, and omnivorous diets, both organically and conventionally grown, and found that the organically grown vegan diet had the most potential health benefits '
The Choose My Plate.gov opinion on this (basically a Q&A on the dietary guidelines):
https://www.choosemyplate.gov/2015-2020-dietary-guidelines-answers-your-questions
' Do I still need to watch my cholesterol intake ?
While adequate evidence is not available for a quantitative limit for dietary cholesterol in the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines, cholesterol is still important to consider when building a healthy eating style. In fact, the Dietary Guidelines states that people should eat as little dietary cholesterol as possible .
In general, foods that are higher in dietary cholesterol, such as fatty meats and high-fat dairy products, are also higher in saturated fats (which should be limited to 10% of total calories per day). The primary healthy eating style described in the Dietary Guidelines is limited in saturated fats, and thus, dietary cholesterol (about 100-300 mg across the various calorie levels).' -
Study at 24:30 shows that vegetarians have less cancer but what about the vegans ? Well, I found this from the study:
"...4 diet groups were established: meat eaters (those that eat meat), fish eaters (those that do not eat meat but do eat fish), vegetarians (those that do not eat meat or fish but do eat dairy products or eggs or both), and vegans (those that eat no animal products); because of the small number of cancers among vegans, in this article the vegans are included in the vegetarian category "
This is highly frustrating: why weren't vegans given a category of their own (I say this because too often omnivores quote this study and say vegetarians have more colon cancer than omnivores)? Oh well, at least everyone who reads this knows.
