vue - How To Grow A Square Watermelon
Growing a square watermelon in a cinderblock. I saw this done in a video in Japan where they used wood boxes. I just put them in a cinderblock and busted it off later. It does work. I can't wait till next year when I plan on growing a melon inside a three inch piece of pvc pipe so it will look like a salami. However it may not have enough red meat in it in the center.

Damn, this video speaks to me. I'm a stone sculptor living in Indiana who loves to garden. Although, if it were me, I would have used my angle grinder diamond blades. Actually maybe not, I might raise the ph with the lime dust of the concrete.

longer harder swings would of done it no matter how big your Hammer is

They turned me loose from the nervous hospital. 'Said I was well. I got
hired on by a Mr. Bill Cox fixing lawnmowers and whatnot. That grass out
there in the yard has grown up quite a bit. I reckon I might cut it for
you. -

I had a sledge hammer I could have easily use but I decided to use a light hammer using light swings because the object of the video was to show a square melon, not a squashed one.

I don't that's how the Japanese do it.....

Pretty sure they actually use glass or plastic boxes, since the fruit needs sunlight on all sides (except that facing the ground).

Yes, wood would work good. Make the hole about the same size as that of the cinderblock so it will come out good. You can just screw a box together. Remove the screws to get them out.

So i can make the square box with any kind of matterial

It would work great if I had used wood boards and just removed a couple of screws when ready to remove it. This was just a quick-try thing to see if it worked. I understand the Japanese are now growing heart shaped melons.
