vue - How To Grow Oyster Mushrooms From Used Coffee Grounds Cheap And Easy - Part 1
http://www.tomorrowsgarden.net/ I've been looking into growing mushrooms for the past 8 months or so. What I have learned is that they have a great deal of medicinal properties and are a good source of protein. Amazingly, they can be grown quickly out of practically nothing. They don't need an artificial light source and can be grown in various types of media such as wood chips, coffee grounds, grains, straw and manure. It's perfect for preppers as it's self sustaining and can provide a constant supply of food in very little time. It's knowledge that everyone should have. This is video 1 in a series that go on to show various methods of growing mushrooms from start to finish with ease. See part 2 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aAiIXo8pLQ

So every 8 days I should add more grounds until jar is full?
-
burst out laughing at 7:00 at the 'try to aim it' part. lol.
-
skip all the cleaning part to save a few minute of your life.
-
I see what you did there :)

I wonder if star-san would work. I home brew and that's the industry standard for sterilizing your work area and equipment.
-
question does this kind of mushrooms grow in the wild?
-
Is it possible to grow other species, such as shiitake and so on, using the same methods?

ok... you can't sterilize your hands in general, because our skin itself has bacteria, it's part of our nature. If we did try to sterilize out hands, we'd have nothing left of them... I think that this recipe allows a low concentration of contaminants in order to still be successful, and not an absolute 100% of absence of contamination, like in the explanation given here. And to be honest, I think I'd be happier with that, because disinfecting is a lot easier than actual sterilization xp so I look forward to trying this out!

if a high concentration of alcohol can kill spores, than why can't we use it to clean tools used on feet with fungus? I'm wondering if this is a cheaper trick instead of using hospital grade sterilization acids o,o Because I'm having a hard time understanding this.
-
alcohol doesn't sterilize o,o it just disinfects, no?

There are several ideas to try
select the top type - there are many available.
grow them in the right conditions - some eg oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and may be placed outside (I learned these and the reasons they work on gregs mushroom grower site ) -
Nice video sir. Well thought out, clear, and you cut to the point without all the banter. This looks like an easy project. :)

can I do the same method for golden oysters?
-
I find mushrooms scattered here and there in my raised beds. I don't plant them or do anything. they just show up. I use a lot of coffee grinds. not sure what kind they are. they are small and light brown.
-
instead of using your hands.....why didnt you use a spoon? it would have been more sterile and less messy.
-
Looks like a pain in the ass with all that alcohol wiping.
-
I'm dizzy from all the sterilizing. the environment they grow in isn't completely sterile. what's the go with that?
-
Contaminants are also in the air so even if you try to sterilize every thing with alcohol ... when you fill up your jar the probabilities of contamination are very - very hi mate .

Great video, thank you. I will try that!
