Thank you so much for this video. I am planting garlic for the first time. We eat it every day and I would like to grow my own. I have a compost bin and may start a worm casting bin in a container like you did.

I think I put mine in too early. Late September in zone 5.

we are in zone 5? northeastern Illinois. lots of clay soil so I'd thought about planting in pots. any suggestions for doing that?

Nice video. I noticed that you did not water the planted garlic cloves. When would you start watering then?

most comprehensive video online to date regarding growing garlic. Great job! I subscribed. I agree, elephant garlic is a novelty... not good for cooking.

Hi I live on Vancouver island and planted my hard neck garlic around the end of October . They are now up about 6 inches ( that seems really early) can I snip the tops off now for a more successful crop?or should I just leave them? Thank you

I really enjoyed your video (personality and content) and am subscribing. So many of the videos on growing garlic I've run across are of the nature of first timers trying it out. Thank you for making videos from a standpoint of experience and knowledge.

I planted mine about mid October this year and they are already sprouting. We've had only two light frosts here and I was expecting harder weather by now. Are they going to be okay or should I just toss them on the compost heap? I'm getting conflicting opinions from the people I ask. I think mine are soft-stemmed.

I'm dying to make a worm bed. I have never done one but I have to close my raised bed first or the chickens and lizard will eat them'Great video.

Thanks for the great video! I'm in the western Cascades in zone 7b and it's very early November, but I might try planting garlic now anyway with a very heavy leaf mulch. I don't have much to lose! I'm inspired! Also, a couple questions: what's your area/zone in the PacNW? And why plant in 10 inch rows if the cloves only need to be 6 inches apart? why not plant the rows 6 inches apart too like in the Square Foot Gardening method?

Nice vid and perfect timing as Im making an attempt to grow garlic for the first time. My idea though is to add as companion plant around my honeysuckle to maybe help to ward off aphids which I get every year. As you might remember I have commented before as I too have worm bins and there is nothing better you can add to your soil but in small quantities. Im in the midwest so will be mulching.--- Steve

Is it ok to plant garlic directly in the greenhouse during the winter? Without the cooling treatment? We have some garlic and Im planning on growing it in big containers, but I dont feel too confident leaving the container outside with the garlic till may. :( Your feedback will surely help! :)

So how does the bulb form around the clove? I was always curious xD Thanks! :)
