vue - How to Plant Spices from the Kitchen 2013
I noticed that the cilantro seeds matched the whole coriander that I had in the spice cupboard. It gave me the idea to look for other "whole seed" spices that I had. To my surprise there were quite a few! I love to try experimental stuff so I figured that I could plant some of it. Whole Black Pepper, Aniseed, Whole Dill Seed (it looked like the seed from the packet from the store) Whole Coriander, Whole Mustard Seed, Whole Nutmeg and Whole Cloves are what I was playing with in the garden today! Life is fun! Gardening is fun! Look in your kitchen to see what you can plant! I will keep you updated on how this progresses and what sprouts out of the bunch. Thank you for watching, Happy experimental gardening to you! Have a wonderful day! It seems I dont need to waste my time this way. Anyway, I bought bags of peas, and they all work well.

Maybe try the paper towel method of germinating your seeds first?, soak in a weak cold tea solution overnight?

nothing at all came up?

Unfortunately the seeds in your cupboard are not likely to be viable. They are (most likely) treated as well as dried. Even if a few germinate they will be compromised and weak because of the treatment. Some seeds, like nutmeg are only viable for a few days after falling from the tree - when they are dry, it's all over. Your best chance is with fresh, organic seeds.

The little pots that I planted did not work out where they were! The seeds did not want to grow. I am going to compost the bin and try again!

nothing yet from the cloves, I am thinking that the spice part of it is not what will grow. It is taking so long to sprout anything! I have tried some interesting stuff =) I am glad that I am not the only one! The chick peas from my kitchen are flowering now, it exciting! I'll definitely post when things pop up! Thank you for commenting =)
