Its a neat project, but almost all of the assertions made at the beginning of the video are demonstrably false.
Our food system is broken? You mean the one that produces enough surplus each year to export 2/3s of it to other countries that would starve without us?
As for people being knowledgable, and exercising control over how their food is produced, witness the rise of "free range" eggs and organics in the last decade or two. People are clearly knowledgable about how their food is produced, and able to exercise a great deal of market control to produce the outcomes they want.
We're destroying our health and environment? Last I checked the American life expectancy was still on the rise, and American farm land is still producing at record levels. -
Why not do a hydroponics system instead? Granted it will need shelter and temperature control, but it's less space and more growing time.

Awesome work bros! This is what we need. Check out open source ecology as well!

Is there anyone in Italy working with you? I would like to join this amazing revolution! Good job guys!

Lots of haters on here, that's a sign you are on to something great. Is there maybe a retractable cover maybe to keep the moisture in the soil? Seems like that would keep out items from falling in and water from getting out. Overall great job and the only way to success is through all the haters

Cool guys, I am in the process of doing a Patreon campaign called Earth Haven, the first goal with collecting funds is to get my farm self-sustainable, I have been looking at combining technology with nature, and this is exactly what I have been looking for. of course, only once I have funds to do something like this here in South Africa, then I will, the idea with Earth Haven is to create self-sustainable communities all over the world. If I find this works, then I will be doing this for all Earth Havens in the future.

Hipsters ruin everything.

Ignore the haters and the baters. Its a big internet and as batmans butler says in The Dark Night "Some people just want to see world burn" well you lot want to see it thrive. That is blatently obvious from your enthusiam. The fact its open source and not aimed specifically at making you guys rich will just frighten some people. Fact.

This is just revolutionary and fantastic. DO NOT let this vanish into a multinational safe un used... Build Build Build. Crowdfund.... I dont want to be sobbing in 20 years about the machine I saw that could save a planet and only 3 k of us saw the thing on youtube...... EDIT I forgot to say You folks are truly inspirational. Along with the news I just read that the Oil Pipeline will NOT Be going through the Dakota Sioux sacred grounds you have made a sick person feel much healthier. Thank You.

do I need Sunlight for it? or I can grow veggies in the basement somehow?
-
im confused... so you build a robot to get your own food, but you pay as much for building it, as you would pay for food for several years... doesnt sound very reasonable to me

Salad plant dying at 1:38. Great job, farmbot! LOL
Actually I think this is awesome technology, and I agree growing one's own stuff is way better than depending on the industrial agriculture, but I guess small scale backyard farmers enjoy doing their own farming work with their own hands. -
thank you so much. This is brilliant and generous
-
Did you think about costs for those crops using robot? Ha ha.
But I like the idea. -
