Whenever people argue we should ban nuclear weapons, I always remind them of the story of Pope Innocent III who tried to ban the use of crossbows in the 12th century.

You understand nothing about geopolitics. Not country will disarm itself meanwhile the US have so vast conventional military power, the next generation of weapons will make Nukes look good, Nanoweapons, killer robots, space weapons will be the future of warfare.

Thanks so much for this post: It's time to have the courage to ban nuclear weapons. http://www.icanw.org/the-facts/nuclear-arsenals/ ICAN web site: Nuclear weapons are the most destructive, inhumane and indiscriminate weapons ever created. Both in the scale of the devastation they cause, and in their uniquely persistent, spreading, genetically damaging radioactive fallout, they are unlike any other weapons. A single nuclear bomb detonated over a large city could kill millions of people. The use of tens or hundreds of nuclear bombs would disrupt the global climate, causing widespread famine. http://www.icanw.org/why-a-ban/the-case-for-a-ban-treaty/
