haha thanks for the clever reminder. I totally forgot that Mr Lamborghini was a tractor maker.

@hob976 The govt is busy offering up subsidies to the people already paying them. (oil, ethanol, coal...) They arent interested in doing anything to damage that cash cow. If someone comes up with an energy source more efficient than what we have and a way to utilize it they will make plenty of money and wont need a govt reward.

Guys like Rogers and Schiff always say that really poor mofos (like me) should buy the things now, that we know we're gonna need in the future... Razors, batteries, ammo, tools, toothpaste... If you're so poor that you can't buy precious metals, invest in non-parishables.

Owning US dollars... Gutsy.

Isn't crude oil abiotic?

Why in the world would the US government do such a thing? That is definitely NOT in the interest of the American ruling class. Maybe something like that will surface in Asia, but almost certainly not in the US.

@screwopenborders That may be true but he is saying "known" reserves.

Having grown up in a farming family he has it both right and wrong. The entire ag industry is petrochemical based. As fuel/fertilzer/chemical prices explode the cost of production will skyrocket and unless there are BIG increases in what the farmer can sell crops for they will not be able to grow crops. I agree with the stock picks he discusses BUT production costs MUST be kept low and I son't see that happening. Price new/used equipment and production costs verses yeild ratios and you'll see.

Instead of blowing billions a day trying to run the world, the US government should offer a three 50 billion dollar rewards to the 3 best alternatives to petroleum... - Then we can talk about "innovation" in this country...
