This is the typical fruit stall I would patronise to buy the cempedak (artocarpus integer), fruit trees and the giant jackfruit. Fruit farmer, Ah Khiong related to me that the giant jackfruit his wife is cutting is Malaysia's own honey jackfruit weighing an average of 30 kg per fruit. A fruit tree can bear an average of 20 fruits per season. This fruit is different from the first video I took. I was told the fruit is sweet and very crunchy. This variety is from West Malaysia. It can withstand freezing and is exported to other countries. This fruit is locally known as nangka. Its scientific name is artocarpus heterophyllus Lam from the moraceae family. The jackfruit is the biggest fruit in the world measuring 25-60 cm in length. Its weight varies from 35-50 kg per fruit. Nangka is not a seasonal fruit. Fruiting season is twice a year during the months of June to July. The second season is December till January.
