My father Frank F Hall graduated from Megargel High School. My grandparents Jim and Katherine Brom farmed on the outskirts of town in Baylor county their whole lives. Megargel had a thriving Czech population during these times. I have fond memories visiting Megargel throughout my childhood from the 70's all the way into the 90's and adulthood. I hope the town can survive.

My Great Grandfather John Cuba cam over from the Czech Republic caught a boat in France and sailed all the way to Galveston and made his way up to Megargel,TX and built a house a mile outside of the town and with his own bare hands in 1923 and it is still standing till this day. It is now occupied by my grandfather Henry Cuba. Who is living there to this day.

I have ALWAYS been wanting to go there, mainly because my last name is Megargel and it's really sad to see this. I REALLY hope it will still be a town for many MANY years to come.

My Dad, Amel Dormier, grew up in Megargel! He was born June 11, 1918. Dad had five brothers who were born in Megargel too! We visited many times from New York when we were children...that was maybe 45 - 50 years ago now. Many fond memories. Uncle Johnny was the Postmaster. I remember buying Mountain Dew as soon as we arrived in town (we didn't have any in NY back then). Hoping the town stays alive and well - it's a very special place!
