OMG, i'm an italian truffle hunter (Tuscany) and i 've never seen someone hunts the truffle with trident. Another suggestion....NEVER , NEVER STOP the dog when it's searching. Huge Mistake.Anyway, i think that you choose the wrong race and place to do the truffle hunter. Come in Italy and i will teach you, i hope you understood my english (it's very bad). I've lived right next to Portland my entire life, and never thought of truffle hunting. I've seen you in a bunch of local articles, Eric, and you seem to be having a very fun time truffle hunting with Zoe. Maybe I should give it a try.

I really hope someone can help me find an answer to this. I purchased a glass jar with black summer truffles. I flew to visit family and put the jar in the checked bag, and when I arrived I did not notice anything strange (maybe I missed it) but today I was looking at the jar and noticed the lid was popped, but I never opened the jar. I was thinking maybe the pressure from the airplane had an effect on the jar. But I don't know. Please someone who knows, are these truffles still eatable since they jar was never technically opened?
