Hey there i would like to know if you can use "Gen_trash" . . its the bi-product of both the hull and the seed. Thank you !
-
I used to buy calcium sulfate and carbonate from brew shops for that purpose, not sure what's in plaster of paris.

I am hoping to start a small grow operation with pearl oysters and i find your videos to be very inspiring since your doing exactly what i'd like to be doing. These videos are very well done as they are entertaining and instructive,i encourage you to keep posting updates and i really appreciate your willingness to answer the few questions i have asked as well.

i agree but i don't have a giant pasteurizer like you so im stuck using a big pot on my stove, so the small bags would work better for me untill i can make something like that. Im just starting out but hopefully one day i will have some of that nice equipment you have. I have another question, how did u figure the amount of ventilation you needed?
-
That will work, I think it is less work filling one tube than a bunch of bags though.
-
i meant filter bags not filer bags.
-
how do you think just putting holes in smaller filer bags on a shelf for fruiting would work? Just using straw in the bags you use for rye spawn and only poking the holes when it is fully colonised? That is how i was planning on trying it.

Mine are 10.5in diameter (26.67cm) so that is already pretty close plus I am flattening them so the thickest part is only about 8in.
-
oops, i meant centimeters )))
-
Bro? I have been watching your series for a while now. I have a commercial oyster mushroom farm in Russia. May I suggest reducing your bag diameter? Youve been reading too much Stamets experiments))) You will save on substrate and your yield will not decrease. For oyster - optimal diameter is 23-25 inches.

The plaster soaks up extra water content leftover from the cottonseed hulls. Too much water content makes contamination easier. Also plaster is a nutritional supplement for the mushrooms. I cleaned the cement mixer well and sanitized it with 1 cup per gallon water of bleach solution on the inside and outside.
-
Sorry bro but can you tell me what the plaster is for? and also when you are mixing the spawn into the grain in the cement mixer (which is awesome) is the no more danger of contamination? I'm just starting and I'm uncertain. I guess it's just like straw in that sense eh pasteurized and you're good to go?
