Manny Pinol was a former governor, newsman and now a newly named member of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte's cabinet. But no matter what his title is...he's a farmer for life. The incoming agricultural secretary visited southern California where he met with Filipino community members, and American business leaders asking them to support Philippine farming initiatives and products as he researched the grocery industry and farming methods in California. He explained to the community that he will cut department spending as he tries to achieve the two directives from his friend and boss, President Rodrigo Duterte: to stop hunger and corruption. Pinol plans on returning to California later this fall for an agriculture trade show hoping to showcase some of the Philippines products while making more connections and acquiring new tools to help him in his was against hunger.
