Jalpaiguri, July 27 (ANI): Poor rainfall in Jalpaiguri district has hampered jute production in the region. There has been a huge drop in the average production of jute due to less rainfall. Last year, the region received 997mm rainfall, but this year it has received only 425 mm rainfall. Farmers are worried as they do not have any supporting system to sow jute crops. According to farmers, more than 40 percent crop has already been damaged. North Bengal has an ancient old agro based jute industry and has been a contributing factor to the economy of West Bengal state.
