We are planting hinohikari variety of rice for harvest in October. This shows the methods used on a small scale family farm, typical of the area.

@alphasxsignal We sell our rice to friends quite a bit below retail, at about 8,000 yen per 30 kg bag, unpolished. (When you polish it, it will be less weight.) A bag = 66 pounds so roughly $1.20 USD per pound. Some varieties of rice fetch a higher price in the marketplace because of the different region, taste etc. We wanted to grow specialty rice like black or red rice but from next year, the JA is taking over small farms - we will no longer have a voice and the land will be farmed by the co-op. Now we need to sell the machine!

@anthonyguada Hi, It's been a busy fall. I do not know of any sellers outside my area but I would suggest doing a search for used or refurbished equipment. There are a few resellers in Asia. New equipment is so expensive and the shipping costs are outrageous. Look for Kubota or Yanmar and also check alibaba.com to see if they have some reasonable equipment. It would be best, I think, to find a seller in the Phil. because you would want to be able to repair it or replace parts, etc.easily.
