vue - Planting Seeds from a Papaya
I found a Papaya on sale at the local fruit and veg shop so I decided to bring it home and try planting the seeds. Odds are against me growing a Papaya just because of the whole Canada thing but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I watched a few different videos on sowing Papaya seeds and they pretty much all recommend fermenting them in some water for a few days first such as you would for tomato seeds. Well, I don't soak my tomato seeds and they seem to work so I'm trying 3 different methods with these. Some are being planted directly into soil straight from the fruit. Some are being dried for a couple of days in a napkin, not a kleenex as I said in the video, and then will be planted. The rest are being allowed to ferment properly before I plant them. This should be interesting! I wonder if any will sprout? Thanks for watching & I'll let you know if anything comes out of all this! Some of our other channels. what a waste of time making a video of something that did not work

collect seeds from the end farthest from the stalk, this will give you higher chance of getting more female trees. papaya should be allowed to ripe well before seeds are coolected.

I am told papaya's from the store are all gmo. So I asked a neighbor for one from their tree. Im watching you tube to find out the best way to plant the seeds. Lucky for me I live in Florida. I love all tropical fruit

Did any sprout?

By the looks of it, I'm guessing your papayas are imported, no papaya farms in Canada?
-
I started some last winter started but I killed em oops just dried the seed first. Germinated in less than two weeks as I remember.

If this works, then your next challenge should be avocados in Canada! At the very least, they make excellent inside/house plants due to the huge green leaves that they have.
-
Well worth a try. Good luck with germination.
