yeah... not much to it ***update*** I neglected to care for it and let it go EXTREMELY dry and it died. I still recommend growing it indoors though and will surely try it again. I have an ornamental variety growing in my living room and it's doing very well. I'd expect similar results from the edible variety if I tried it again. thank you so much for the information on this I've had my Ginger growing all summer and is now starting to hit the low 50s at night I had no idea that I was damn near close to killing my plant.

I Got potting mix with a pot that got drains but the soil keep staying wet what can i do?

Was it Organic or non GMO?

I was told by a New Zealand ginger grower that you should always soak your store bought ginger before you plant it. This is to rehydrate the root to give it a fighting chance. I see that yours was dehydrated, a simple mistake and easily fixed by planting a fresh and freshly soaked healthy one. Thanks

the trolls here can suck it. thank you for making your video. i keep walking past this piece of sprouting ginger root sitting in the onion/garlic/tomato bowl on our kitchen counter and i think....."maybe i can plant that" and thanks to this video, i'm going to drop it in a pot tomorrow and let it do it's thing. all i needed to know was if i could, and basic how to plant it, and you came through. thanks!

Mine took 2 months to sprout and it had a healthy node when I bought it at the Asian market. It's outside in a pot and I check it everyday. Also have taro growing from a rhizome with a sprout on it when purchased. Both were were bought just for the sake of planting because they looked right for planting!

I'm planning to plant some ginger tomorrow. Just see if I can. I read up a lot about ginger and its uses around the world. Many medicinal uses. BUT CAUTION, it has a negative effect on some heart medicines. ie Warfarin/Coumadin The Dutchman
