Project Sundrop: a revolutionary and futuristic system of agriculture. It is located in the desert of southern Australia, an inhospitable, dry and hot area that until now was considered sterile for any type of agriculture. Then came the draft of the Sundrop Farms, with only solar energy and seawater have managed to produce up to 17,000 tons of tomatoes a year. This farming system is unique in its kind, as it requires no soil, pesticides, fossil fuels and fresh water. The project began in 2010 with an experimental greenhouse near the city of Port Augusta, and after the good results in 2014 began construction of another greenhouse of 20 hectares in the same area which was completed in 2016. The same greenhouse It has a system that brings seawater Spencer Gulf, two kilometers away. Water passes a desalination plant powered by solar energy, and where fresh enough water to irrigate produced 180,000 tomato plants located inside the greenhouse after removing the salt. Solar energy produces a modern tower 150 meters high, with 23,000 mirrors pointing it to direct sunlight. On a sunny day, they can produce up to 39 megawatts of power, enough to power the desalination plant and electrical systems to maintain the temperature in the greenhouse. The area is warm, so that the greenhouse is filled with salt water wet cartons that maintain enough fresh plants to allow them grow. In winter, however, a solar heater is responsible for maintaining a comfortable temperature. Sea water also helps to clean and sterilize the air in the greenhouse, making no need for any type of pesticide. Produced tomatoes have begun to be sold in local markets. The infrastructure has cost some 200 million dollars, which is a small impediment to expand the idea. In addition, because winter has not yet managed to always get enough to keep the whole system energy, solar greenhouse still it has some dependence on fossil fuels. In any case, these are two problems waiting to remedy the medium term. #Sundrop #Cora #Marketing #Abantech #investing #branding #concentrated #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Agriculture #EcologyNature #SundropProject #FarmingSystem #Sundrop #Farms #water #sun #desalination #ElectricalSystems #SaltWater #SolarHeating #greenhouse #Sundrop #ClimateChange #DesertAreas
