vue - Quick Tip - Growing yer Yeast
Okay so here is how I grow my yeast, not skim, farm or wash it. This about 4 days shooting and 35 minutes of video edited and compressed... expect speed. Happy to answer any questions...

Thanks for putting this up, its so useful!

Hi. I only have a 2 litre flask. I guess i could make a 500ml starter in that and them add the 150ml wort instead of using two flasks and get the same result? Cheers.

I can't understand a fucking word you said

This is pretty much what i did last time. I was going to buy a new vial once these ran out because I was afraid to do the process all over again with the old yeast. Now that I've seen you do it, I think I'll just start the process all over again with my last vial and see how it goes. Thanks Grant.

Great video! That's kind of the way I was leaning towards doing things. Get one fresh yeast pack, and grow and split that, to save on money and time and worry, since you could always have good yeast around. Cheers!

Great Video. Gonna have to try this!

Cheers for the video Grant, was always wondering why the yeast was only good for so many brews, but it's the high gravity that stresses it,ahhh need to farm not harvest...cheers

cheers man!

Great work, I need to get back into my yeasts, had a couple of bad batches and I'm back on the dried stuff for now

Nice one buddy! How long does the yeast keep for? Great tip!

Really good tips for anyone wanting to go down that route,
Cheers Grant,

Great vid Grant! I did almost the same thing. I pitched us-05 in a starter and grew that, so on and so on. I ended up with 3 jars of yeast. I tried washing yeast because I had never done it before. And it is a bit time consuming. I agree, this is way easier. Cheers and 17

Alright! Pretty similar to what we did last weekend. Cool. Do you think that 500ml from the 2L starter would be enough for a 5 gallon ferment of a 1.060 beer? Or should we make a starter to kick start it? Great vid btw!!

I like the growing yeast idea. Particularly like how you siphon off the wort/beer above the yeast in the flask, preventing it from being stirred. Great video!

Good Tip. I do something similar with yeast after fermentation. I have not tried to do it with fresh yeast. Great idea.
