Thousands of farmers flooded the streets of Brussels earlier this month to vent their anger on the EU's handling of the growing crisis plaguing their sector. Farmers in the bloc have lost billions of euros since Moscow imposed a ban on food imports from the EU some twelve months ago. Sanctions dont harm the people that make them. They disaffect and offend ordinary, often struggling people. It's the stupid conscientious objection of governments that alienates it's own citizens here. Farmers should be driving their tractors into parliament house and tipping manure in its parking lots.
